When you die in Azeroth, while in ghost form the world around you will be mostly black and white and you will turn into either a ghost or, in the case of Night Elves, a wisp, thanks to the Wisp Spirit racial. When dying in Shadowlands, you will instead turn into a Wraith (yes, even Night Elves!).

Although you are in the realm of the dead in Shadowlands, you can still most definitely die. However, the surrounding world is much different while you're in Ghost form!
