Target - Get 30% off select games w $1 pre order - MK X (PS4) 38.49, BF:Hardline (XB1) 27.99, (+ additional $5 off w Gyft promo & 5% RedCard)

****Like always, using your Target RedCard to make the purchase gets you another 5% off******

****Also found a GYFT promo where you can save $5 on a $25 Target gift card******

this thing has become convoluted but I think it's still easy enough to follow.  It's best to do this in store with

a $1 pre order card.  If you're being denied, just leave and don't pay then.

ORIGINAL DEAL DETAILS

Take 30% off the listed price of these games when you put $1 down on a pre order card (you don't have to buy the game you preorder, but you'll lose your buck - in store.   See the following update for online orders where you are asked to pay the pre-order in full)

Target's Video Game selection

(51 games here, 29 pre orders to choose from and 22 games you can apply the 30% off to)

Seems to work online with the games that are already discounted in that group, too.  Add a pre order (also from that page) to your cart and you should see an additional discount.

Mortal Kombat X (PS4) goes from $54.99 to $38.49, (XB1) from 59.99 to 41.99

Battlefield Hardline (XB1, XB360, PS3) goes from 39.99 to 27.99  (PS4) goes from 59.99 to 41.99

UPDATE: from  eulogywerd21

For anyone curious about placing an online order to get the 30% off and then cancelling the preorder later, it appears that Target splits the promotional deduction between the 2 items. My Paypal order looked like this:

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PlayStation 4) $59.99 USD

Promotion on Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PlayStation 4) -$6.00 USD

Destiny (Xbox One) $29.99 USD

Promotion on Destiny (Xbox One) -$3.00 USD

Amount $80.98 USD

If you attempt to cancel the preorded item, they'll split the promotional % off similarly.

UPDATE: from LonelyBacteria:

Saw $41.99 on dying light ps4 in store YMMV and all that

PRICEMATCHING TARGET.COM DETAILS

If your Target stores' prices don't match target.com's, get them to price match that first.

People have also had varying degrees of luck PM'ing other stores prices, but generally you're more likely to get a pricematch through AND use a promo % off by matching to Target.com.

A successful approach from past $1 pre order Card deals has been get a price match to the game but hold onto your pre order card until the very end of the transaction.  Buy a few items of filler that you need anyway, and when the cashier is finished ringing your items THEN produce the pre order card.  Just hand it to them to scan it and ring you up - don't feel like you need to tell them the pre order card should give you a discount.   It should apply the 30% discount automatically, even on top of a price match.  YMMV of course

UPDATE: from Wickedgamer1:

I picked up watch dogs PS4 yesterday at long last for 12 and change after I had them PM their own site. Showed 29.xx in store "on sale" but 15.xx on the site, and the guy tried to give me the excuse "oh that price is when you pre order a game too", so I had to kindly explain what 30% of 29.99 was, and he ended up PMing and using a battlefront reserve card.

UPDATE: from Bombarded:

Clueless employees staring at the pos after pm'ing and scanning reservation cards, priceless. As long as I pm target, they don't give me any problems. Pm'ing amazon is more risky

GYFT DETAILS - works even if you've done this in the past, just use a new email / payment. YMMV!

If you want to go one step further into the CheapHole with this promotion, SIgn up to GYFT and use their promotional $5 off any $15+ gift card to buy a $25 Target Card for $20 and save another $5 this way.  I couldn't find a way to buy 2 $10 Target gift cards so I had to do this to get the promo to work).  People have also had success doing this multiple times by creating new accounts with different emails and using different forms of payment.  YMMV on this, too.

FYI YOU CANNOT PRINT THIS Target GIFT CARD, you have to show the cashier the card on the GYFT app on your phone or use the code online.  If you can print from your phone maybe you can do a work around, but the Gyft app does not alow it.
