I've been looking long and far for a very long time for a feature like this. I'm using Android 6.0 with the 46A stock firmware on my VS985. I use Google Keyboard and can't switch keyboard apps.
I really want to find something that will let me manually move the keyboard cursor while typing. I know some ROMs have left/right arrow buttons that pop up in the navbar while you have your keyboard open and that would be an absolute godsend to duplicate with an app or module. If this is not possible, I would even settle for the ability to move the cursor by pressing the VOL DOWN/VOL UP buttons while typing, although this wouldn't be my first choice. I set almost all my apps to have a very high DPI so things on my screen are tiny, which is generally how I like it, but it makes it very difficult to manually move the typing cursor.
I really hope somebody here knows of anything that could enable such a feature. Something like this is what I need:
